Scifi Horror Environment

As a huge fan of the DOOM series I decided it was time for me to have a go at a scifi horror environment. With the most recent DOOM as inspiration, I started out by creating a basic floor layout. My general workflow is to start with the main structural pieces first, then work in the direction of props and textures. It took me a bit of time to decide on a color scheme however once I did, all of the pieces started falling into place. I picture this environment in a damaged space station on another planet, such as mars.

Keeping to the horror theme, I felt it best to have a "test tube" of sorts that had been broken open. Whatever escaped didn't do so unharmed.

With any space station in game environments there tends to be a large amount of stowage. It just wouldn't be right without some proper crates and exploding barrels.

In attempts to optimize these assets, I UV'd many pieces together in order to lessen overall material calls.

I was able to keep the polycounts quite low and create most of the hard surface detail in the normal maps.

I may end up going back and adding some particle effects for sparks and dust to really accent the damage that has been done in the facility.
